Private lessons vs. group meetings
What separates a lesson from an event, what each one costs and how to join a meeting.

Two kinds of meetings
A private lesson is a one-to-one meeting with your teacher at a time booked in the calendar. A group meeting — an “event” — is a themed session that several of the teacher’s students attend together. Both appear in the same calendar and run over video.

How to tell them apart
Each meeting shows its topic, level, teacher, time and remaining seats. How to do it
- 1A private lesson is booked with your teacher and uses one credit from “private lessons remaining”.
- 2A group meeting is opened by the teacher for a whole group and uses one entry from your group balance.
- 3The events page shows topic, level, teacher, time and participant count; a full meeting cannot be joined.
- 4A private lesson runs about 50 minutes (a trial about 25), and a group meeting about 50.

How to join a group meeting
How to do it
- 1Open the “Events” tab and filter by level, or search by topic or teacher name.
- 2Select “Join meeting”. You can join groups that belong to the teacher you study with.
- 3Check that the meeting appears in your calendar, and join on time through the video link in the event.
Hemy tip: Group meetings are great for speaking and listening practice between lessons, but they do not replace the private lesson built around your own pace.
